Raw Feed for Ferrets and Dogs

 Hi!  I'm Kat and I just discovered this comm on a friending meme.  

I have 3 ferrets and am curious what kind of raw feed I would give them?  As a breed, they're prone to nasal diseases and cancers, so I can see the appeal - I just don't know where to start.

I have a 5+ lab/beagle mix from the humane society that I've had for 2 years in November.  He's my love, but he's epileptic and as a result has periodic bouts of stomach problems that put him off his feed.  When this happens, I feed him browned ground beef and rice.

I've seen people feed ferrets whole prey from reptile providers - things like thawed chicks or mice - although they often had to be cut open to show that there was food inside the fur and feathers. I'm not sure what would be a good starter food though.
